“MeLE CUP” China Industrial Design Elite Award 2011 was founded by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society Industrial Design Branch in 2002.
In the support of 3NOD and other associated businesses, it has held for the last seven years. Becoming one of China's most famous and most influential
events of industrial design over the past years, it has attracted the attention of hundreds and thousands of designers’ all over china. Furthermore it has attracted
many designers from international design schools, design firms and company design departments who are actively participating and supporting in the competition.
The Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society Industrial Design Branch was established in 1986, is China’s earliest national industrial design academic organization,
and in 2003 joined with the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). A Society Council formed by an international famous experts,
scholars and people from business circle; Every year it holds china international industrial design seminars around China, National Industrial Design Academic Annual Meeting,
Product Innovation - China Industrial Design Forum, Selection of Chinese Companies – China Product Innovation Design Award (CIDF), China Industrial Design Elite Contest,
International Conference on Computer-Aided industrial Design and Conceptual design (CAID & CD) and other kinds of academic and non-academic activities which have an
important impact on the development of national and international industrial design.

This year’s China industry design elite award is inevitably improve in the specification and influence, and introduces the joint of latest technology elements and product
concepts technologies implementation methods and industrial design. This year event will divided into “Conceptual Design Group” and “Professional Group”,
and is open to global design students and young designers.
Shenzhen Mele Digital Technology Ltd. will promote and strive to make China Industrial Design Elite Award becomes one of the most influence international industrial
design competition. The international jury of the competition will select 20 finalists from the “Conceptual Design Group” and 6 finalists from the “Professional Group”.
Finalists will be sponsored to create the model of their work and travel to Shenzhen to attend the final contest and on-site seminar, the first, second and third prize will be
selected and also individual awards of The Best Creative Award, The Most Commercial Value Award and The Best Expression Award. Award winning works (model) will display
in national exhibition or make into catalogs. "Professional Group" finalists or winners will have the opportunity to collaborate with the sponsor "Shenzhen Mele Digital
Technology Ltd" for product cooperation, and obtain additional design returns according to the sales of the design product. All finalists will be invited to participate in 2011
China (Shenzhen) International Industrial Design annual event.

1、“Conceptual Design Group”：
A. Home Entertainment (audio, video and games) products design.
B. Living room remote control audio and video communication terminal.
C. Living room Internet product terminal and solution.
D. Home Multimedia library and storage.
F. Creative new concepts for new life style or application.
Note: finalist works are required to create mockup samples. The organizer will subsidize RMB1500 per sample as creation costs.
2、“Professional group”：
A. Internet High-Definition Multimedia Center (terminal).
B. HTPC
C. Internet Home Theatre System (Internet mini speaker, home theatre, and sound-bar, etc).
D. Living room remote control audio and video communication terminal.
E. Private cloud (home storage terminal).
A. Innovative design concept and extraordinary product design;
B. Consider the ease of production and use with full expression;
C. Clearly express the product design features, selling points and unique marketing concept.
D. Requires considering marketing tools like the product name, logo, packaging, posters and promotional items.
Note: Finalist works are required to create mockup samples, posters and packages. The organizer will subsidize RMB2000 per sample as creation cost.
1、“Conceptual Design Group”
A. Works must be consistent with the theme of this competition and content requirements.
B. Works should be prospective, in line with technology development trends and possibility of future lifestyle changes;
C. Has strong innovative ideas, reasonable design logic, and be in line with modern design trend of aesthetic standards;
D. Works should be convenient, comfortable, safe and easy to use and with concern about people's emotional needs.
E. Works should be green design, environmental protection and energy saving.
2、“Professional Group”
A. Works must be consistent with the theme of this competition and content requirements.
B. Works should be innovative and prospective;
C. Meets the aesthetic standards of modern life and has good market value.
D. Works should have good production possibility and easy-for-manufacturing with the existing technical conditions and the manufacturing level.
E. Have a clear idea of life, with better user value.
F. Works should be ease of use and concern about users’ emotional needs.
G. Works should focus on new materials, new workmanship, environmental protection and energy saving.

Schedule of Contest
1. Registration and submission time: September 1st to October 31st
2. Finalists Evaluation (Jury Selection): November 1st to 10th
3. Finalists List and Announcement on Website: November 11th
4. Finalist works sample creation time: November 11th to 25th
5. Finalists arrive in Shenzhen: November 28th
6. Final evaluation and Seminar (please bring your sample model): November 29th
7. Award Ceremony: November 30th
Note: Evaluation and award ceremony schedule might be adjusted according to the organizer arrangement.
Organizer will provide national finalists the round trip costs (the hard bed train ticket fee) to Shenzhen and accommodations in Shenzhen.
Organizer will provide overseas finalists the round trip cost between landing city to Shenzhen and accommodations in Shenzhen, but not including Sightseeing travel costs.
If overseas finalist cannot attend the event held in Shenzhen, they can authorize a representative to participate, or entrust the organizer to handle.

1、Conceptual Design Group：
Each design will be limited in one layout and as JPG format.
Design layout Requirement: 42CM*58CM, 200dpi ensure is able to create large scale poster and printing requirement.
Design Performance: hand-painted or through computer, able to show the design’s creativity clearly.
Layout Content: “MeLE CUP” China Industrial Design Elite Award 2011 contest title, work name, the overall effect diagram, partial renderings and work description in words.
Note: Designer's name and any marks cannot be included in the layout; otherwise the work will become void.
2、Professional Group：
Each design expresses can be in JPG or PPT format, no limit on pages.
Design layout Requirement: JPG images or PPT images in 42CM * 58CM, 200dpi or more;
Design Performance: concept sketches can be hand-drawn, formal design documents requires computer graphics, with clear expression of design ideas;
Layout Content: “MeLE CUP” China Industrial Design Elite Award 2011 contest title, work name, the overall effect diagram, partial renderings and work description in words.

a) Winner (first, second, third Award) and individual design awards need to sign a 6 month trainee contract with the organizer company

responsibilities and obligations.

Note：
a) If the total entries are less than 60 entries, according to the quality of work, the organizer may allow Award to be absent.
b) The Winner will sign 《Design work production development intention letter》 with the organizer (Shenzhen Mele Digital Technology LTD).
Depends on market needs, winning products and finalist products will have chance to cooperate with organizer (Shenzhen Mele Digital Technology LTD)
to in-depth develop the product and mass production and sales. Designer will receive additional design fee depends on the product sales
quantity (RMB2.00 for each product sales, up to 100K products within 2 years of mass production. Payment will be paid according to the contract)
c) Designer’s photo, ID information and signature will have chance to be shown on product package, advertisement and User Manual.
d) All the bonus incomes of the winners should be self declare to the individual income tax; tax payment according to law is a citizen's responsibilities and obligations.
Works should be original design. Counterfeiting or infringement of intellectual property is not acceptable.
Designers own all intellectual property rights of their works. The organizers have the right to promote, display, publish and promote in other forms of the solutions.
No other parties, individuals or third parties, except the organizers, shall redesign, manufacture, sales, advertise, publish, exhibit or promote the works in any forms or by any means. Otherwise, the organizers have the right to pursue legal responsibilities;
For the industrial oriented designs, the organizers and designer will co-operate to work on the in-depth design, mass production and sales. The organizers have the right to apply to the State Intellectual Property Office for intellectual property protection, and participants have the right of authorship.
Design services for third parties are not allowed participating in the competition. Otherwise, the participants will be responsible for any of the legal disputes arise.
